HOLDS:

DuSearch lets you place a hold on items that are available or checked out, as long as they aren't on reserve, in the Center for Dubuque History, or in Special Collections.

Items that are available will be pulled from the shelves each morning and held at the Check-out desk for you to pick up. Items that are checked out will be held at the Check-out desk as soon as they are returned by their current borrower. In either case, you will get an email as soon as they are available to be picked up and you will have 5 days to pick them up from the library.

Here's how you place a hold.

  • Search for the book The horse and buggy doctor, by Arthur E. Hertzler, M.D. and click on the title.
  • Click on the Place Hold button under Availability.
  • Sign in to DuSearch if you aren't already
  • Click Submit
  • The green bar at the top tells you, you have successfully placed a hold!

CANCELLING A HOLD:

Here's how you cancel a hold.

  • Click on your name to get dropdown and select My Account from the list
  • Click on the tab that says 1 Holds
  • Click the Remove button
  • Confirm that yes, you want the hold removed
